More photos from Tasmania

Mount Wellington

In the morning, the road to the pinnacle was closed - this is about half way up.
It was cold and windy (ask Karina and Adam!) ...

... but clear and sunny, and you could still see the magnificent view over Hobart and the Derwent.
Look at the brilliant colour of the sky behind Natham and Lesley.

Later in the afternoon the road to the pinnacle was open, so up we went.
Tim and Denis are bracing again the ferocious wind, it is slippery and much, much colder than lower down. You really did have to hold onto your hat.  We were not out of the buses for very long!

Thanks for your photos Anna

There was much to see and many animals to hand-feed at ZooDoo.

Thanks for your photos, Ron

Tasmania - when we were not bowling ...

There was a LOT of bowling at the Nationals (as you would expect), but we had some free days for sightseeing.  There is so much to see in and around Hobart that we could only take a sample ...

The Mercure on Bathurst Street, Hobart looked after us very well - thank you!

We had to drop into the Cadbury plant - what do you think is those purple bags?

It was chilly, but fine most days. There was snow on Mt Wellington - at the pinnacle we were nearly blown away by the Roaring Forties, and it was much, much colder!

The Cascade brewery is on a historic site ...

... and incorporates a beautiful garden.

We also visited the fabulous Tahune Air Walk in the Huon Valley (above), Bellerive Oval, Old Hobart Town, Salamanca Markets, and Zoodoo Wildlife Park.

Thanks Lesley for organising the sightseeing, to Ron and Denis for driving us to so many interesting and fun places, and to Natham for the photos.

2012 TBA National Disabilities Championships

29 Hornsby Rockets bowlers, parents and carers travelled to Tasmania for the 2012 TBA National Disabilities Championships held in Hobart from 23rd - 29th June.

Our thanks go to Annette Seymour, Lesley Constable, Natham Constable and Ron Crompton for all of the organising, planning, time and effort that they put into making the trip possible, smooth running, comfortable and fun.  They organised the competition aspects, travel, accommodation, meals, sightseeing and safety of all 29 travellers.  In addition, Ron and Denis Wilson drove the buses to transport us around Hobart, to and from competition, many kms for sightseeing, dinners out and home safely.  We really appreciate it all.

The bowlers competed in two series each of singles, doubles and teams, and six bowlers were members of the NSW State team as well (so that each bowler could win more than one medal in each event, and sometimes did!)

Hornsby Rockets members who also bowled for the NSW State Team:
Emma Crompton, Karina Peters, Jenny Jones, Tim WIlson, Warren Seymour and Candice Lundie
