Hornsby Rockets bowlers recognised

Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean (a co-patron of Hornsby Rockets), recently told the NSW Parliament about Hornsby Rockets members  Tim Wilson, Jenny Jones, Kelvin Abela and Kevin MacPherson being selected in the First Annual NSW Tenpin Bowling Association Disability Open and Restricted Masters Championship in December last.  He formally congratulated Kelvin Abela for winning the Championship, and congratulated all four on their achievements.

The notice of motion is now on permanent record in Hansard.

2012 Trivia and Games Night

Congratulations and our thanks to the organising committee of Anna Peters, Lesley Constable and Trish McNamara, very ably assisted by Megan Peters, who produced such an enjoyable and successful fund-raising event on 19th May, at Hornsby RSL Club. More than $5,000 was raised ... The final balance sheet shows a profit from the night of $6954 !

The bowling members of Hornsby Rockets very ably told the audience about the development and achievements of the club, and how ongoing community support will continue to be of benefit, in words and pictures, seasoned with great good humour. The games and trivia rounds were played enthusiastically ... and a little bribery might have occurred.  All of the silent and live auction items were sold, lucky door prizes were distributed, and the lucky dips sold out.

Congratulations to the  Spares team, winners of the Trivia rounds.

Our very grateful thanks for all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, Hornsby RSL, families, and friends who got behind the event.

Hornsby Rockets Invitational 2012: results

A two day competition including six clubs and more than 100 bowlers does not happen without meticulous advance planning, organisation on the event days and many hours of voluntary administration. Our grateful thanks go to:

Annette Seymour, for organising all of the entries, preparing squads, handling the finances, organising the medals and trophies, and the many other tasks she does in preparation for every competition, especially this one.

Natham Constable and to Lesley Constable for preparing the software, setting up the scoring system prior to the event, and scoring at the tournament, producing the results in time for the presentation on Sunday afternoon.  It is a huge task both before and during the competition. And to Suzanne Charlesworth from Illawarra Strikers who stepped in to assist with scoring when Lesley was unable to be with on Sunday.

All of the volunteers who helped throughout the two days, supporting the bowlers and keeping the event running to very good time.

We might have already mentioned that the Hornsby Rockets won the Championship Shield? Here are all of the bowlers' individual, doubles, teams and all events scores, and the medal winners.  Click on the event to download the scores:

Hornsby Rockets Invitational 2012 - day 2

As anticipated, the second day of the Invitational was much busier than the first with many more bowlers attending from six clubs. Thanks to Illawarra Strikers, Macarthur, Central Coast Challengers, Lachlan Tigers and Gosford clubs for joining us.

Our thanks to AMF Hornsby, and manager, Christine Grey for hosting the event, assisting with tourrnament management and for generously donating the trophies. And to co-patron Judy Hopwood who presented medals and trophies with Christine, and officially closed the event.

The Championship Shield was won by ... Hornsby Rockets!

Hornsby Rockets members continued to bowl well.

On Sunday, Kevin MacPherson followed his 209 scoring game on Saturday, with a game in the doubles event in which he scored two Turkeys (3 strikes in a row)!

Adam Mandarano followed Saturday's success with a 4-bagger (4 strikes in a row) on Sunday.

Individual results will be available online shortly.
