Hornsby Rockets selected for NSW TBA Masters competition

Hornsby Rockets members Tim Wilson, Jenny Jones and Kelvin Abela have been selected to compete in the First Annual NSW TBA Disability  Open and Restricted Masters Championship on 18th December, at Fairfield.  Kevin MacPherson was selected as a reserve.  All were in the top ten in the Open class in the NSW State Championships at Illawarra on 5th November.

Congratulations to all four bowlers, and our very best wishes on the day.

Thank you to the 77 bowlers who made the 2011 Challenge Night such good fun on 11th November. Thirteen teams made up of Hornsby Rockets members, family, friends and community supporters played for a magnificent array of trophies (and a coffee mug for each of the members of the lowest scoring team).

Macarthur Challenge 7th August 2011

The team from Hornsby Rockets won 12 gold, 16 silver and 4 bronze medals, and took out the Club Challenge Shield at Macarthur on 7th August !  Congratulations to the bowlers, and thanks to the parents and carers who got them there and volunteered on the day, and to those who ran Saturday bowling at Hornsby for the other bowlers.

TBA National Disability Championships 2011

The National Disability Championships were held in Adelaide 4th - 10th June.  Fifteen Hornsby Rockets bowlers and ten carers travelled to Adelaide for a busy week of bowling.  We'll bring you more photos as they come in. Congratulations to the bowlers who all participated in multiple events, and did their club proud.  Medals were won in fifteen events!

Karina Peters competed in the Interstate Challenge, for NSW, which was placed third.

Our thanks to the carers who went along to support the team members, and those who ran Saturday bowling for the other Hornsby Rockets on Saturday 5th.

2011 TBA National Competition, Adelaide

This morning, 15 Hornsby Rockets accompanied by 10 parents and carers are off to Adelaide to compete in the national championship hosted by the Ten Pin Bowling Association, for bowlers with disabilities. We'll be away for the whole week!

It will be cold and wet we hear, in Adelaide, so wish us luck!  We will have a great time together, and hope to fit in some sight-seeing.  Karina will be playing for the State team, so send her a few extra good wishes.

For those Rockets not going to Adelaide, Saturday bowling is still on this Saturday (4th), at Hornsby, as other parents and volunteers have stepped in. Thanks!

Trivia and games night ....a good time and a great result

Our thanks to all our guests, sponsors and donors who made our 2011 Trivia and Games night such a success on 14th May. We raised over $3,500 to help support the Hornsby Rockets Tenpin Bowing Team.

And we learned how to belly dance!

 

Hornsby Invitational 2011

We hosted the annual Hornsby Rockets Invitational tournament on 2nd and 3rd April at AMF Hornsby.  We had so many teams and players that we had to book extra time and lanes!  Thanks to all of our guests for making it a great weekend. Thanks to our members for their great sportsmanship, and to our parents and carers for their work in running the competition.

First competition for 2011 - well done!

Hornsby Rockets competed at the first Illawarra Invitational at Albion Park last weekend (5th March),  we saw some great bowling and the resulting scores and top-class representation of our club. 

Congratulations to all of the bowlers, and thanks to the family and committee members who supported them.

A great start to 2011

Karina, Emma, Candice and Warren attended State Squad Training and Team Selection at Macarthur at the weekend, after several months of training squads.  Karina was selected for the team - congratulations!  Congratulations to all of you for your wonderful performance, and for doing the Hornsby Rockets proud!
