Some of the Rockets went to Singleton for this tournament on 8th - 9th August - they had a very good weekend, and came home with a swag of medals between them. They could not have done it without the support of Ron, Annette, Dennis, Robyn, Anna and Lucy - thank you!

Bowls Away in Rockhampton
The National Disability Competition for 2009 was held in Rockhampton, which the Rockets attended from the 8th – 14th June.
We had great weather sunny skies and a little dip in the pool - a little cool for some (most actually) the accommodation as usual was fantastic.
The bowling was good from our players, unfortunately we did not win any medals but we had a great time, and our shirts were the best of all, the Rockets looked great.
On our sight seeing we went to the Crocodile farm out at Emu Park what fascinating creatures they are we all got to hold a baby crocodile and had our photo taken, BUT the most fun was the Rodeo on Friday night. We had ringside seats so the action was up close and personal. Warren nearly had a cowboy in his lap as one of them came flying over the barrier. We had our photo taken with a group of Cowboys and some horses. The people there were fantastic.

Rocket powered Trivia Night
Our first Trivia night was a great success, we raised over $2800 for the Rockets, there were auctions, instant prizes and games, bowling pin decoration
Lions Club of Berowra donated a very generous $335, from the Op Shop at Berowra to our night.
Every one that attended said they had a great time and were looking forward to next year. Thanks to all the Rockets and their parents that came to help on the night - please think about putting together a table of friends and family for next time. All the Rockets benefit from our fund raising events - it’s not just about fund raising but getting to know each other away from bowling.
Thanks to all who contributed to planning, organisation, setting up, catering, running the night, attending, and cleaning up afterwards. It was great fun, and money raised will support Hornsby Rockets members in bowling competitions at home and further afield. Your support and generosity is very much appreciated.

First Hornsby Invitational
The Rockets held our first 2-day bowling competition under the new committee on the 18th & 19th April. It was well attended with a total 6 clubs taking part including the Hornsby Rockets.
In all a total of 76 bowlers competed in the 2-day event. We had two bowlers, Emma Mathews & Jeremy Wright, playing in their first competitions, both winning medals.
Karina Peters had an outstanding performance winning 3 Trophies & medals. Lars Emmerson was also selected for NSW State for the Nationals with his performance.
The event would not have been a great success without the support of the committee & parents who helped over the 2 days. Thanks to Steve Warren from Hornsby AMF for his hard work, also Dennis Wilson for taking on the scoring recording, a big job.
